How/why did the little face in your autograph come to be and do you have any other artistic abilities we don’t know about?
The smiley face was something Pollyanna use to do when I was little so I snagged it from her when I started doing autographs
Which embarrassed you more? Falling on your butt in Melbourne and having it viewed on YouTube a gadjillion times, or getting caught swearing on stage during broadcast TV in Kuala Lumpar?
Falling on my Butt in Melbourne was so embarrassing. It was so embarrassing that I didn’t even feel the pain. Was more embarrassed two days later when I realized I had a rip in my pants that everyone could probably see.
What’s the status of your solo CD? IT seems like it’s been ‘halfway done’ for ages!
I feel the same way. I truly have been working on it and it’s a work in progress. The group stuff has to be a priority for all of us. Still a passion of mine and I still want to do it when the timing is right.
If you were asked to do ‘Dancing With the Stars’, would you do it?
I think I would if it was at a time when I wasn’t busy with Backstreet Stuff or my solo stuff.
I just wanted to know what is the most craziest stalker situation you have encountered?

The craziest thing was probably when they got hold of my cell phone number and called me a couple of times to wish me a happy birthday.
Are you going to bring back howied.com, your website? I love that place you should bring it back?
I am considering a website to include my music (solo and BSB), my other business interests, and my family life.
Are you going to do DLF events like DLF Weekend Celebration in 2006? You should do more events like that?
Right now there are no plans on the books for an event but we are always looking for ideas and we welcome the
fans doing events.
Do you think you have a chance to come to Japan for DLF event? I wish you and your family could come to Japan and raise lots of money AGAIN!!!!!
Would LOVE to come back to Japan.Your country has always been so supportive of not only the Backstreet Boys but also of the DLF. My family and I loved being there.Hopefully we will be able to come back one day.
Did you and the other guys enjoy visiting places that you haven't been in many years during the Unbreakable Tour, like my hometown, Quebec City, Canada?
I always love touring and going to new places. We definitely enjoyed being in Canada.

My question is, 'what is the reason for the rush on this album? You all halted your solo projects to do it, and its highly unusual given the length of time it took to make Unbreakable and Never Gone.Are you confident that you are not compromising the quality of the band's music for the sake of getting another record out?'
We're not trying to rush the CD. It'll be two years between the new one and 'Unbreakable' by the time it comes out. We're all very confident that this is going to be better.
Question for Howie--How come the boys always pick on you what did you ever do to them lol just wandering

We are definitely thinking of names but we want to keep them a secret so that when the baby is born, it will be a surprise to all of us. Thank you for asking.
If you were a t-shirt, what would you say?

And what can you preview about the show on March 1st?
- We are going to give you an excellent 2-hour show with a lot of energy, with a large theatrical performance, and we are going to present the biggest hits of our career as well as the newer songs.

About your most recent CD titled, "Unbreakable" - what have you sensed about its reception and the support on the part of your fans?
- The fans have been incredible, not just with our new album (Unbreakable) but with all the ones preceding it. We have the best fans in the world and they have supported us both as a group and in our solo projects, and also in other activities that we have done, like our foundations and charitable works. We really feel a lot of support from our fans and is the reason we keep doing this.
Actually, with the absense of Kevin Richardson, what has been the dynamic in the studio and in the shows?
- Definitely, there is a different dynamic. It's obvious that we miss Kevin (both) in the album and in the show, but I also believe the the group has remained solids and we have manage to overcome (his departure) and make an album with which we are very content. And it's because of this that people, even though it's obvious that Kevin is not there, really are not going to be missing much.
And did his retirement happen? What motivated him to leave the band?
- One day Kevin go us together and told us about his decision to take a break; he wanted to try different things in his life, among them starting a family...But we decided to continue with the show and I am very happy that we have been able to make the album and go out on this world tour.
How is the relationship between the 4 of you? You been working together for more than 15 years
- We have an incredible relationship and I would say we are like a family. We have experienced so many things together! For example, I have seen Nick grow from a 12-year-old; today he is almost 29... and I believe that the best memories of my life have been with the "Backs". Besides which we support each other in the different things in our lives, like starting a family, working on a solo career, acting, etc. And I believe that this is why we are still together; we have a large dynamic and we love each other like brothers.
But the the fans have grown up along with you, how would you describe that relationship?
- It's incredible how loyal the fans have, and they are so passionate. They have grown with us, and now, when you see one of the shows and think that the people who have been there for 15 years, you know that today they have their own families and are taking their children to the concerts too. Today we see how different family groups are enjoying themselves so much at our shows

How one feels to return to Chile after 11 years?
-It is a madness! Tremendously we are excited and proud to show to him people, to ours fans what they are Backstreet Boys. We want that the concert is worth the pain.
Some memorable memory of its visit to the Festival of Vine of the Sea in 1998?
- Definitively. I have many memories of our visit. Latin American people are very enthusiastic. He was incredible! We could not leave the hotel with all the fans that were outside.
In what the BSB from 11 years ago to the ones of today are different?
- With each album, we have grown like group, our music has grown. Definitively we are better musicians today. Clear that there is a different dynamics in the group without Kevin. We had to make changes, for example in the line of vision. Always he will be our great brother, it leaves from us and we are happy that the time is taken to make the things that always wanted to do.
You would like to return to the Festival of Vine of the Sea?
- Clearly, it would enchant to me. Perhaps when it sends my disc like soloist. I am working in him, but I do not know when he will be ready. I am taking my time because I want that it has a style.
Some message for fans that anxiously hopes to be able to see them?
- It would want to give them to thanks for his presence and support. We will cause that it is worth the pain through a great show, the best one of all. - “All I have to give” always has been my favorite song. It is a classic song. They enjoy fans it totally.
In June you are going to be father for the first time, how you feel on the matter?
- I am happy, very excited with this new chapter of my life. My wife is a great mother and a great woman who always have understood to me and supported, and I I want to help, to participate totally in the raising next to her.

How you see the public, to fans Chilean?
- They have always supported to us, with its passion and enthusiasm. Is incredible amount of fans that we have in Chile, that writes to us, sent mails asking to us that we came.
Your mother is Puerto Rican, you feel near Latin America?
- The Latin culture always has been part of my inheritance. The language, the food, the form to be of people enchants to me, for example, when I am going to Puerto Rico to visit family. The people are really “affectionate” (she says in Spanish).
Tour world-wide is called “Unbreakable”. It means that we have BSB for short while?
- Today we are working in a new album in that we return a little to our roots, to the MGP and
R& B. Beyond the changes that can have the group, we want to continue making music.

 

 
 
CC: If you had to pick one all-time favorite BSB song, what would it be?
Howie: My favorite song of all time would probably be “All I Have To Give.” It’s like one of our earliest songs. It would probably be a cross between that and “Drowning.”
