德國雜誌訪談AJ 28/3/08 One point why AJ McLean of the BSB is so glad he’ll tour through Germany is b/c he’s smoking. (with an astonish rough voice). In order to youth restrictions is Germany compared to the USA still a wonderful world to the smoking addicted people. He has told us more reasons and much more details in an interview... event: The story of your success with BSB began in Germany. Do you have a declaration that you are and were so successful in Germany? -I wish I have. But that’s true. The German fans had and have reveived us with open arms. Germany was the first country where we toured through. Germany has been a second hometown for all of us. There are well-known faces in the audience. That’s crazy that’s Fans grows up with us together. event: Are there also new faces in the audience? -Of course and like the old fans they’re interested in our music. They aren’t interested in our past and now we can do what we want to do - makin real good pop music for the whole world. event: You mean the peak of the boyband hype. How do you judge this period now? -You know I haven’t known the word boyband before we went to Germany. We haven’t realized that we’re a boyband. We’ve disliked that designation. Fo me a boyband was 4 - 5 good lookin casted guys where only one guy can sing a lil bit(laughed). In my opinion we were ever the "real deal". That means five musicians, singer and performer who don’t made some other things in life. And now have a look! We’re the only one who are alive. We’re the "last band standing" event: you are the only boyband who has changed to real musicians. -That has lasted a few years. But all we want was high qualitative music. Finally we have to thank our fans who have a big loyality. They allow us to continue on this high level. event: Now you’re making the creative dicisions on your own. Was it a difficult process? -Of course, now WE have to say where we want to go. That’s a point of our experience that we can make decisions. We’re older and wiser and with time you also know the business which gives us more control on our own. That process have begun five or six years ago and things turned around. Writing, producing and the show is based on our own. Nobody has to handle that for us. We determine the look of our show, the setlist, the whole thing. The new show is phenomenal and represents each of us in a perfect way. There is an amazing Intro on our show and little surprises which I can’t tell you. event: The band and especially you: You had hard times to go through. What was the trigger? Too much work, stress or temptations? -A lil bit of all. Our career was a hurricane! When you’re partying in a very young age it’s drivin you crazy. Nobody can warn you. That has throwed me off the real life. Now I’m six years sober and life couldn’t be better anymore. event: We all know about the excesses of Britney Spears or Amy Winehouse. That should be well-known for you. -I know where they go through. I was in the same situation where they are now - at the bottom of life. But I can’t call them and tell them where I went through and everything’s okay. They have to find their own way and being ready for somebody’s help. event: Let’s talk about Kevin.. Was it his last word leavin the band or is it a temporary situation? -I think that’s the "temporary last word". He’s lucky with his life. He’s father of an amazing little boy. When Kevin looks at him his eyes are shining. But there’s ever an open door for him. If he called tomorrow he’ll come back he’s defintaley back again. If he likes to be with us on the next album he will. There’s nobody who can replace him in the band. But he made a decision for his family and who could tell him another decision. There’s another life outside BSB. Me too. Now I work on an own album. event: Nick and Brian have released solo albums. Still misses Howie... -Oh, Howie does also a solo album. Everyone of us have individual dreams and projects and all’s based on the agreement of the whole band. event: How does your solo album sounds? -Anything of all and much more. More funk, Soul, more Rock. A real fat production. Everything of a Lenny-Kravitz-Sound to a Lynard-Synyrd-Sound to a Ben-Harper- or Draft-Punk-Sound. All sounds which I am grew up together and what’s cool now in my opinion. event: Going back to the tour. You aren’t 20 anymore. Isn’t it more stressful than in the past doin preparations for the tour and the tour on it own... Compared with a performance athletes in older ages? -(laughed)Of course. We sample for three weeks now and I would lie when I say we haven’t aches on our muscles. And it’s difficult to learn our old songs b/c we have too much of them. We also perform ols songs on tour. But let me say one thing: It will be a damn kick ass show. It’s fresh, new and I think you’ll be surprised. event: Thanks for the Interview -Thanks too. WOW! Enough time for a smokin break until the next interview begins.
