We will continue b/c we love what we do In 1997 BSB had their first show in Germany. The Schleyerhalle was sold out. BSB will come to Stuttgart 2nd april. Stuttgart: Singer Howie Dorough talks about youth, success and screaming fans. Mr Dorough, would you give your son the advice to sing in a boyband? -Of course. I would support my sons in everything they want to do. My mother has supported me in my career. And if my son would dream about it I would motivate him. Did you have more fun when the BSB career started than now? -There are different species of fun. In the past the fun came from the new situation. Everything was exciting. All the foreign countries where we played our show. And when you go on stage the first time in front of thousands screaming girls... that’s also very exciting. Now there’s another fun. Now I can take my family with me. And when I notice how they enjoy that that’s like it is my own first trip. In the end of the 90’s many girls threatened with suicide when the BSB would break up. How do you deal with that? -That’s crazy. Some of them travelled with uns from concert to concert. But when there’s the point that some people think that BSB is more important than their own life... to sacrifice their own life... in order to our decission to break up... that’s scary and very sad. We are all human and we are only blessed with a god given talent. We had the opportunity to have success and leavin many problems behind us. But I would never wish someone will make a suicide in order to us. You celebrate your biggest success in the beginning of your career and you must try to repeat that since then. How does it feel? -It’s another feeling like in the past. We all knew that BSB aren’t any more the huge phenomen like it was in the 90’s. Many artists have their ups and downs. Have a look to Jon Bon Jovi. I’ve believed that it’s important to have an international fanbase: Bon Jovi played in big arenas in Europe when he couldn’t sold out the big arenas in USA. We had a crazy head-over in the end of the 90’s when Millenium was sold more than tweny million times. Since then the music industry has changed with their downloads. We are in a time of transitions. But I believe that BSB will be active for a long time. Any magazine wrote that BSB has sold more albums than Bob Dylan. -Sold more albums than artists who are our idols is very flattering. That shows you the energy of the band. Or the energy of t he management? -That’s a combination of all. When there wasn’t the talent of the band the management hasn’t had something where they can work with. The band is important. Followed from the management, label, PR and luck. Luck has a lot to do with success. The new album "Unbreakable" sounds like a typical BSB album what wasn’t the bases of the album before which was more a rock album. -It was a definitely decision to record an album which remembers you in the old style but on the other site it has to be new. The last album "Never gone" was based to a pop-rock direction. On stage it’s not easy to make a show in this direction. "Unbreakable" is a perfect album for a show. One of your secrets for your success in 1996 was the combination of youth and good lookin boys. If youth and good lookin boys are the capital - how do you deal with the age? -It’s a part of the life. Perhaps the good lookin has helped us in the beginning but in the end only the music matters. Music gives us the power to go on. You must be multimillionaires. What’s the point to go on?? In order to the "seven album contract" only one album is missed. -These are different things. After the seventh album we’ll do another contract for more albums. We go on b/c we love what we do. We love music. Music is in our blood. That’s our addiction. The concert of BSB is on 2nd april 8pm, Porsche-Arena.
