Have you worked on any uptempo songs with BSB? Or just ballads?
- I usually try to write the ballads mainly because alot of the uptempos are written by the big producers who use the hottest most up to date beats and sounds. Ballads are a bit more timeless and intimate when you really nail one that's special.
Ok I have one about I Need you tonight,was that song always supposed to be just Nick singing it solo and the boys doing the background vocals.
The song that you co-wrote with the boys for the new album that you hope to make it on there will it be a ballad and what can you tell us about the song ?
- When I wrote I NEED YOU TONIGHT, I was just a young teenager completely upset over a girl who wouldnt love me back the way I wanted her to. She left my house and in my crushed moment, I wrote I NEED YOU TONIGHT. I had no idea it would be used several years later for Backstreet Boys.
I wrote a few with Nick although Im not sure any are going to make it. They sorta switched directions a bit.
Quick question...was it tough to shift your writing at all to accommodate Kevin leaving the group?
- I didnt write anything that Kevin didnt sing. He left after my last cut with the guys. Although, its probably easier to write for 4 part harmony than 5. Kevin's always been a good dude though. It was great to catch up with him a bit at Howie's wedding.
Show Me How To Love Again is a song that Nick wrote with Desmond Child a few month's ago do you know what it sounds like? Is Dan Muckala going to have any part on this album? How bout Jeffrey Steele?

What's your favorite song you've written for the guys?
- That's like asking who your favorite child is! lol I may be slightly partial to I NEED YOU TONIGHT only because it's one of the only songs I've ever written by myself.
Who produced the songs that Nick let you listen to you yesterday? and have you heard of the song Hologram by Brian Kennedy, is it the first single?
- I know Brian is involved but I think its way too early to tell if a song will be the first single or not in my opinion. You gotta have all the songs in first to make that distinction.
- Not close. Once they gather a group of songs, the label, management and the guys decide which they want to go in and cut. It's a long process usually. Lots of cooks in the kitchen!
- I'm not sure when the single or new album will be released. I'm sure they will let you know when the time is right. Based on what I've heard though, get excited. Hehe As I mentioned earlier today, I hope I can land one on there. If not, I'm happy when my close friends do well regardless.
Are you collaborating with Howie on his solo venture? I couldn't help but notice several songs you've written for spanish speaking artists. Do you speak Spanish or are the songs written in English then translated over? Which isn't always easy to do. BTW thanks for answering questions for us.
- Howie is literally like a brother to me. He and I have written probably a dozen songs through the years but distance makes it hard. We wrote in Florida last year a little with a mutual producer friend. Not sure if any of those few songs will make it but we'll see. I'm sure he and I will be writing more again soon.
I dont speak Spanish but several of my songs have been translated in Spanish.
Do you think the songs the boys write will be on the album and two.is the song you wrote about love or heartbreak? thanks.
- Im not sure. I cant speculate on what will be on their new album. Sorry I couldnt be anymore helpful.
I hear you have dabbled in Christian music...have you ever thought about or been inspired to write with Brian on his next solo cd?
- Being I love ballads, its a great fit to write in the Christian market. I have a single about to come out on Francesca Battistelli called BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL. Shes GREAT. Also, may land on Natalie Grants album and just finished writing with a GREAT young artist named Britt Nicole who I think I landed a few on.
Regarding writing with Brian, I'd love to if he ever asked me to.
How did you manage to help write such a personal song in "How Did I Fall In Love With You?"
- That song came out of no where. I wrote the melody in literally 3 minutes, recorded it down with my co-writer Callum Macall. Howie just so happened to be in London at the same time I was. I brought him into the session the following day and the lyrics were written. Howie laid down the vocal on the demo and the rest is history. It made the record.
Your friends with Rami Yacoub as well...is he planning on working with the guys?
- Rami is awesome. Great friend. Not sure about his involvement with the new record or not.
Yeah you friends with Ryan Tedder, he did a few songs for the new album?
- I know alot of Ryans friends but havent met him. Id love to. Not sure whats making this record.
Do you know if the boys plan on going to Sweden at all to record or are they just going to stay in LA or Nashville maybe again?
- Not sure
So is nick gonna be in Nashville at all during recordin? Or LA ?
- Not sure. Id say mostly in LA this record. Nick just left Nashville 2 days ago to head out to LA for the next few months.
Do you think the songs that you've heard so far that it will be like the Millennium or Black and Blue albums where they balanced them out with equal ballads and uptempos?
- I know they want to "somewhat" get back to the old sound when they sold gagillions of albums.
