新好男孩Backstreet Boys的叛逆男孩 A.J.二月剛推出了首張個人專輯，在所有成員中，他是最早嘗試舉辦個人演唱會，也是最早開始明確進行個人專輯製作的， A.J.想要將他內心的糾葛寄託在音樂之上，現在透過創作來傳達出自己對音樂的熱情，以及身為Backstreet Boys之外的自己。AJ濃厚低沉的嗓音在新好男孩中最具特色，從一出道就有著相當鮮明外型與個性，堪稱是新好男孩中最叛逆的鬍子型男。A.J.長達十年的音樂創作，總共錄了30首歌曲，甚至有一首「Shadows」因為西城男孩們很喜歡這首歌，於是就收進了他們的新專輯。新好男孩於二月份亞洲巡迴結束後，緊接著五月A.J.將於日本展開個人的亞洲巡迴，A.J.希望以個人身分演出，能夠營造出更有趣的舞台表演，也期待能與歌迷有夠多的互動，絕對同樣能夠打動眾多新好男孩歌迷。

Inrock獨家採訪AJ：有朝一日我要結婚成立家庭，但是從現在的日程表來看——不可能.(笑)
採訪日當日淩晨（10月2日），率先完成Bigger Mv個人拍攝部分的AJ，通紅著眼，非常疲憊地不停打著哈欠。旁邊的桌子上放著Room service送來的早餐。但是，這是在採訪之後才能品嘗的美味，在這之前，AJ只能眼睜睜地盯著擺放他面前的松餅和雞蛋。採訪完了，AJ才就著燻肉吃了早餐。真的是個非常親切的人啊，從以前就是。

Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean has insisted that his debut album is "still happening" and will be released by the end of the year.
The singer, who has been working with artists including J.C. Chasez and OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder, told DS that he was nearly finished on the long-awaited record. the single will be out in September but it won't hit you guys until spring next year."
The 31-year-old went on to say that he was "really excited" about the "amazing record" and that he had received the full support from his bandmates.
"It's a pretty awesome record and I'm really proud of it," he added. "I wrote the majority of the record along with some amazing writers and it's kind of me introducing me to the world as myself."
McLean previously hinted that the album would have a "Southern rock vibe" and promised that fans would be "surprised" by the direction of the record.

How would you describe 'Straight Through The Heart', the new single?
"I'd use two words - Backstreet Boys. Obviously we've worked with a current producer so it's got an updated sound, but the one thing that we were very adamant about, after hearing feedback from fans, was that we wanted to go back to being us. There was a formula that worked for us and this is exactly that."
