DJs- How have you been?
AJ - Good, very good, busy, busy, been in the studio recording right now. Right now we're in the studio, finishing up, we're about half way through recording the BSB album and im working on my album too
DJs - ohh so no wonder your busy
AJ - very busy, yes
DJs make a comment
AJ - well yes it definitely helps to have time off in between working with this and working as a solo artist, its really not that hard to really switch gears because really when your on your own your focussed on what your doing on your own and when we're all together as a group its a totally diffrent atmosphere, hanging out playing video games, vibing out. Its alot more busy when its all of us together.
with t pain and a producer named jim Jonsin we're getting ready to record a song written by neyo tomorrow, we've been busy working with producers, alot of our first time working with jim johnson, t pain, neyo and ryan tedder. we've just done one song with max martin, a song called bigger.
AJ - the neyo song that we're doing, we actually cut a song that he wrote for the last record, a song called happily never after that never made it to the album but this time its a song called Trouble thats really cool, its got a 70s retro vibe but its an amaazing song, a great club/dance song, working with Ryan ive personally worked with him for my solo album, Howie has written with him too, we worked with his partner, a producer by the name of Radio, when we were in Manchester (England) last year, cut a song called Undone. We dont know which songs will get out there but we're lucky to work with so many amazing producers.
We're trying to have everything recorded by the first week of June, then obviously everything has to be mixed, we have to go through the process of picking the songs, which usually takes around about a month, so um we're pushing to/hoping to have the first single out in July, then have the album out by early fall, do some promo in fall, we'll probably not start touring until the top (ie. start) of next year, so we have enough time to put together an absolutely amazing new tour show.
AJ (talking about him as a solo artist):- I'm really, really excited, its turned out to be a great record, im very proud of it, I think its a great representation of who I am outside of being a Backstreet Boy, to introduce me into the world of being a solo artist. I'm hoping to finish things up by the time the group albums finished too and I hope to have a single out sometime this year, by the end of the year maybe, I hope to start the tour in Japan, so...
DJs ask a question
AJ -Yes, its one of those things where one helps the other in a sense, its a really good timing thing for me, because once we release the BSB record, if there's, hopefully, a lot of success behind the BSB record then that only helps me, it can only help back myself up I think so to speak but I think both things can co-exist, it'll be alot of work, I'll have to be with the guys out on tour and then go and tour as myself too, so ill be going back and forth alot but as long as I stay healthy and rested it should be, it should be fine.
DJs - im guessing they ask what are you up to?
AJ - Not really much right now but basically it consists of recording, recording, more recording. Still, you know, looking... I definitely met alot of really nice people but nothings set in stone yet, we're all really happy for Howie and his wife, its their first kid, they'll be awesome parents, she's due in June I believe so its just around the corner.
DJs - I think they asked something like will we see you in Japan again?
AJ - Perfect, more than likely yes you will
I would love to actually do some more sight seeing, I always just gone shopping, its my favourite thing to do, that and sushi, sushi, sushi. Definitely want to try some new local cuisine, want to open up my eyes to the local culture there, really get into the heart of Japan.
DJs - presumably asking what does it mean to you, to be in BSB?
AJ - What does it mean to me? a very big, huge part of my life, it means family, friends, um, kind of just, something real and something pure, its one of those things where its like, none of us really expected this to go as far as it did and we're all very fortunate and blessed that it has, we're coming up to 16 years this month so we're all very overwhelmed, you know? but we're family, we're brothers, we're family, what it truly means to me is happiness, to be with these guys and to be on stage, we love to perform, we love making really good music.
DJs - presumably saying thanks for talking to them
AJ -You're very welcome, see you soon, bye guys.
